Free Art Lessons

with Jim Pence

Did you know SEE THE LIGHT offers free art lessons?  Yep, they sure do.  These lessons are online videos with each artist doing the teaching.  I want to introduce you to Jim Pence and the free art lessons he offers on the SEE THE LIGHT blog.

“James H. (Jim) is a performance chalk artist, a singer, a speaker, a published author, and in his “spare time” he teaches karate, writing, and art to home schooled children.  Jim has been drawing, painting, and singing since he was a child, and has been doing performance chalk artistry in churches, camps, and conferences for over thirty years . . .”

This next school year will be studying astronomy.  Jim has a video series that will enhance our homeschool study.  This will be a lot fun since we will be using a black light and fluorescent chalk.  Here are the topics Jim teaches on drawing stars:

  • How to Draw Realistic Star Fields in Black Light Chalk
  • How to Draw Nebulas in Black Light Chalk
  • How to Draw Galaxies in Chalk
  • Drawing Galaxies with Black Light Chalk
  • Drawing Planets with Chalk
  • How to Draw Planets in Black Light Chalk
  • Draw a “Space Scene” with Stars, Planets, Nebulas, and Galaxies

Take a look at this video on How to Draw Realistic Star Fields in Black Light Chalk.

Jim uses watercolors as another medium in his free art lessons.  You will want to follow along as you watch his Easter series on creating the Cross Hill using watercolors and a black light.

There are many other videos and tips Jim offers.  Click on over to SEE THE LIGHT’s blog to discover what they are.  Warning: you will want to gather art supplies and be prepared to complete some projects.

Have fun with the free art lessons.

Blessings,

Angie McFarren, Homeschool Consultant
