Art Curriculum Suitable for Homeschool Co-ops
There are many decisions the leaders of a homeschool co-op need to make when planning for the year’s activities. There is what subjects to offer; who is going to teach those subjects; what resources to use; will there be any field trips; and many others. There is one subject that will take less planning and cost less money by using the right art curriculum suitable for homeschool co-ops and that is from See the Light.
Note: I published this article earlier this year. Since many co-ops are searching for art curriculum for the next semester, I thought I would republish this.
Sponsored post and affiliate links. You know how much I love See the Light. I would encourage you to use their art curriculum whether I received compensation or not. All opinions are my own unless otherwise indicated.
My family has participated in a couple of homeschool co-ops. Both times we wanted to participate in the art classes. The second co-op offered a great art class but it was cost prohibitive for my family. The leaders were charging in the excess of $100 per semester. That did not include the cost of the materials. Needless to say, we decided to go a different route for our art classes.
See the Light offers art curriculum taught by a master artist, which makes it perfect for a homeschool co-op. Co-ops typically meet once per month during the school year. The See the Light DVDs have 4 lessons each. The cost of each DVD is $14.99. A co-op will need 2 DVDs per year costing a total of $29.98 plus tax. See the Light offers free shipping. That is pennies for each student making the art class very affordable for each family.
The Art Class series will suit the beginning students very well since the master artist, Pat Knepley, teaches the fundamentals of art. There are nine DVDs in the Art Class series totally 36 lessons. Some of the DVDs have a bonus lesson. If the co-op leaders continue to use the art curriculum, they will have over four years of art classes planned.
The other art series See the Light offers is the Art Projects. Those DVDs are appropriate for both beginning and more advanced art students. The series also contains nine DVDs with four lessons each.
The Art Projects feature different artists. Students will create their own projects in the style of such artists as Vincent Van Gogh in Sunflowers, Winslow Homer in Peaceful Seas, and Louis Comfort Tiffany in Tiffany Window.
You will notice there is an extra month without an art lesson. The last art class will be a good time to take a field trip to local art museum.
To sum things up, the leaders are taking care of the following things by using art curriculum suitable for homeschool co-ops by using See the Light products:
- Affordable curriculum
- No need to hire a teacher
- Quality art lessons with a biblical application
- Field trip opportunity
Next time the leaders have their planning session recommend See the Light.
