This past spring, my family and I attended the Indiana Association of Home Educator’s Convention in Indianapolis, IN.  I went with one main goal in mind: to find math curriculum for my daughter who quickly becomes bored with math.  The first math booth we approached was A+ TutorSoft.  My daughter watched as I received a demonstration.  Her eyes became wide and said that was what she wanted.  We continued to look at what other vendors had to offer.  However, my daughter was already sold.  We went home with A+ TutorSoft and a very happy girl.

When we arrived home and I had an opportunity to delve further into the math curriculum, I became even more impressed with A+ TutorSoft.  The computer software was easy to install.  That was a big plus in itself.  Next, a tutorial popped up which gave a tour of the features the curriculum offers and there are many features.

A+ TutorSoft is more than a presentation of the material with questions and answers.  There are clear instructions and several systematic examples to aid in understanding.  If the student does need more assistance, he/she can replay the presentation for mastering.

The audio learner will appreciate the oral presentation while the visual learner will enjoy the colorful graphics.  Those who prefer a text-based curriculum can also use A+ TutorSoft for the program has a built-in curriculum book.  There is a separate textbook available for purchase if the student prefers.

A couple of other features A+ TutorSoft offers are a worksheet pack and an exam pack which are both printable.  The worksheets provide an additional opportunity for mastering the material.  I suggest only using the worksheets if the student needs them.   The exam pack is an available option to help you determine how well the student is mastering the material.  What I like about the exams is that they tell the student to explain the answers and to show how he/she came about the answers.

A+ TutorSoft even offers printable reference sheets.  These will be an asset when needing a quick reminder on how to complete an equation.

A nice addition to A+ TutorSoft is a reward system.  A student knows immediately if he/she received the correct answer.  The student even earns certificates, which again are printable.  The student can check his/her progress via progress reports. This allows the student and parent to see the scores.

The parent has features for him/her.  The parental control options allow turning on or off the solutions to the worksheets and exams.  The parent can even enter the scores for the worksheets and exams.  Now for a big plus, there are lesson plans that clearly show how many lessons to complete before giving exams.

The best feature for me is the A+ TutorSoft does all the teaching.  That means I do not have recollect any Algebra!  My daughter’s response to her new math curriculum was, “That looks like fun.”  What a blessing.  A+ TutorSoft is definitely a “thumbs up” for this homeschool mom.
