Meet Angie

I am a Christian; a wife; a mom to two children; a non-practicing registered nurse; an Awana Ministry Director; a mentor; a homeschool mom; a Homeschool Consultant who is passionate about helping moms in their homeschool journey; and a product reviewer.  As well as a woman who wears many other hats.

Angie’s Homeschool Journey

I began homeschooling in 2002.  Like life it has had its ups and downs.  All-in-all it has been worth every bump in the road to see the progress my children have made in all areas of life.

Homeschooling is something that just happened at the last minute.  My son was to begin Kindergarten on a Wednesday (after many tears on my part.)  The Thursday prior, my husband decided our son needed another year of maturity before going to school.

We did not want our son to just sit around for a year doing nothing.  So, I began teaching him at home and was surprised at how much he learned in that year.  It felt right to homeschool him and his sister from that time forward.

That first year I remember being filled with many questions about homeschooling and uncertain as to where to find the answers.  Well-meaning moms began telling me how to homeschool. What made matters confusing, is that they all homeschooled differently.

I spent hours reading everything I could about homeschooling.  It took about 2 years of trial and error until I was comfortable with what was best for my children.

H.O.P.E. Home School Consulting and Angie’s Accomplishments

After several years of homeschooling, I realized I could help other families so they would not feel alone or judged on how they wanted to homeschool their children.  H.O.P.E. Home School Consulting began in 2008.  H.O.P.E. is an acronym for Helping Other Parents Educate.

It soon became apparent moms were in need of knowing how to homeschool.  Even those who had been homeschooling for years felt things were not working as they had hoped.  In 2011, I wrote the eBook Educate the Home Educator Crash Course, which explains the how-tos of homeschooling from the beginning all the way through high school. New and existing homeschool moms have found the eBook to be full of practical helps and lots of free resources.

The Indiana Foundation for Homeschooling requested me to be their featured speaker for their Homeschool 101 Workshop in 2012.  The workshop titles were:

  • Selecting Curriculum and Setting up Your Homeschool
  • Teaching Methods and Learning Styles
  • Multilevel Teaching and Scheduling

Product Reviewer

One of the things I love to share with my readers and clients is about homeschool curriculum and related resources.  Being a product reviewer allows me to introduce you to the well-known as well as the lesser known companies who create awesome homeschool products.

Being a product reviewer for the Schoolhouse Review Crew for two years introduced me to many of those great companies.

In 2013, I discovered a wonderful company that provides art curriculum for homeschoolers.  It wasn’t long until I became a product reviewer for SEE THE LIGHT.

Brand Ambassador

My relationship with Pat Holt, the owner of SEE THE LIGHT (affiliate link), led us to join forces on another level.  I am now the Brand Ambassador for SEE THE LIGHT.  My role is to enlighten others about the products through email and social media marketing.

  1. I would love to schedule a consultation. I am a mom of four (ages 6, 4, 2, & 6months) in my 1st year of homeschooling. My background is elementary education in public, private, & Montessori settings. I am very comfortable with the school part of homeschooling but feeling very stretched by the home part – namely, teaching while chasing a toddler, nursing, potty training, trying to do laundry, cook dinner, etc. I would love to talk with someone who has done it – how do you give a quality education while going in so many directions at the same time???! I should mention that my oldest is very bright, too – a new six year old who is doing 2nd grade Abeka math right now. She is in 1st grade Abeka phonics. She loves to learn so I don’t want to compromise her schooling… Or the care of the other kids who need a Mommy to snuggle them and play peek-a-boo with them. Help?!

  2. Hi Jennifer,

I have sent you an email. 🙂
